Baby Brezza One Step Baby Food Maker Review

Once your baby is old enough to eat (and enjoy!) baby food,the fun really begins. As a Registered Dietitian, I have a special place in my heart for providing nutrition for my baby (or really any baby). I’ve seen a lot of sick babies who have to be fed from a tube for a long time and who can never appreciate taste. It’s incredible tragic. I’m so thankful that my baby is healthy and enjoys some of life’s finer things like food.
My daughter Lyla started on solids around 5 months and it was very exciting. We went through all the cereals first and than the step 1 baby purees like banana and apple. The real fun began when she was able to eat stage 2 foods. Stage 2 is still a smooth puree but has a bit more texture. Out of all the jarred foods on the market, my favorite was Earth’s Best. They hare organic and have very creative blends like broccoli zucchini, apple sweet potato, and carrot tomato. I dabbled with homemade blends too. I would steam veggies in the microwave and then blend them with my blender. It wasn’t the most efficient way to make baby food but it allowed me to get really creative and know exactly what my girl was getting. One time I blended peas, avocado, and ricotta cheese and Lyla loved it! To this day (she’s 19 months now), Lyla is an excellent eater. She loves edamame, cabbage, salmon, and Brussels sprouts! Of course, I still give her cookies as a treat sometimes. I’m certainly not a health nut and am a big believer of “everything in moderation.”
I recently received the Baby Brezza One Step Baby Food Maker to review. I’ve never used a baby food maker before but always wanted one. This one costs around $100 so I couldn’t rationalize spending that much on something I would only use for the time Lyla ate baby food (5 months-10 months). Also, I don’t see a problem with a lot of the jarred baby foods on the market as long as they are organic and absent of additive or fillers. The Baby Brezza makes it so easy. All you have to do is chop up the fresh or frozen ingredients, put them in the bowl of the machine, set it to steam and blend, and walk away. In 10-20 minutes, it’s ready! You can make a couple batches of different varieties, portion them into ice cube trays, freeze them, and you’re set for the week. The machine can even defrost the frozen cubes. My favorite part: all there is to wash is the cutting board and the machine bowl. The Baby Brezza website has some great demos.
Bottom Line: If you have extra money lying around or a friend wants to buy this machine for you as a present, go for it. It certainly makes preparing your own baby food much easier. I certainly had a great time experimenting with different recipes.
