Baby Jogger City Mini

I’m posting a stroller, but I guarantee you that it will be the first of many. The Baby Jogger City Mini Single Stroller was recommended to me, I looked it up, and it really does fit every single requirement that I have for a stroller. It is lightweight, durable, has a basket and places to store stuff, can snap in a carseat, folds up easily, and is a 3-wheeler but not with huge pretentious wheels.

So…great, you must be thinking. But…Menachem has ONE requirement: That the handlebars adjust to accommodate taller people (i.e. him). I was *told* that the City Mini has pretty high handlebars, but until we try it (and remember, we live in Israel and don’t have so much opportunity to baby store hop), or until someone tall assures us that it is comfortable, it is going off our list.

Any tall readers out there have experience with the City Mini?

I was just in the presence of a baby jogger tonight- it’s totally high enough for Menachem. Everyone I know loves everything about the baby joggers. We are probably buying a double. I say go for it!

where are you buying it? I want it too but I can’t seem to find anyone who wants to schlep it from the states. Have you been to any baby stores to see the prices? Chasdei shmuel wont tell you prices over the phone, shilav is always super expensive, and nesichonet wont answer their phone. So, if you find out the price, please let me know.

was just at chasdei shmuel…the city mini is 1600 shekels, which is about $100 more than it is in the states… don’t know what to tell you…

    What’s nesichonet?

bat7 – i tried the baby joggers, and they were all good for me – except the city mini, which is the only one sarah wants. next time you see any stroller, have shimmy test it out. if it’s comfortable enough for him, i’d be ok with it

    Hey Sarah and Menachem,
Sybil’s sister has the mini in a single and double. Her husband is 6.4″ and does not have any problem with it.

When we were shopping for strollers the mini was $200 here- I think it went up since, but 1600 NIS sounds steep.

We have the citi and are happy with it. We would have gone for the mini but wanted to make sure the stroller was durable. I think that the mini is a pretty good option, especially if you do not have a car.

    nafi –

that suprises me… it felt really short to me at the store, especially compared to the city classic and the city elite. my favorite thing about it is that i keep calling it the cini-mini, which is actually a pretty good reason to buy it

    Hi Sarah!

I actually own a City Mini, as well as a City Elite. I adore them both. The City Mini is smaller and lighter, mainly because its wheels are plastic. It handles like a dream, and has a wonderfully big canopy. However, it gives a more bumpy ride than the City Elite, due to its wheels, and be warned that the basket is TINY. Also, there’s no cup holder/console on it; I had to buy one seperately on Amazon, and most of those are pretty steep. As to the handlebar – well, it’s tall enough for me, and Seth has no trouble with it, but he’s only 5’9″. But then, it depends on how you and Menachem are comfortable holding the handle. Some people like to hold it higher than others.

One thing to know about the Baby Joggers though: They tip over quite easily, due to their skewed center of gravity from the thrid wheel (if you hang anything from the handle). Oddly, the City Mini is better than the City Elite in that respect.

I’ve done a TON of reserach into all things baby. I’d be happy to share my wisdom, if you’re interested. I recommend a book called “Baby Bargains”, by Denise and Alan Fields.

    Hope you’re feeling good!

Hey Michal – thanks for commenting. Those are all good points and I don’t really see the point of a 3-wheel stroller if it’s less stable than a 4-wheeler. Maybe I should start looking at regular 4-wheelers? It’s not like we’re actually ever going to go jogging with it…

And bat7 — yes–PLEASE go have shimmy try out the city mini and see if he’s comfortable with the handlebars…that could make it or break it for us…
