Teutonia: The Stroller of the Future
The masterminds behind the growing stroller industry have finally done it. They have created an expensive and heavy stroller that I am unable to resist. Usually I see those words and I turn the other cheek, but I am looking at these Teutonia strollers head on and I want one.
Welcome to a world where you can create your own stroller. That’s right. You pick the chassis (that’s the frame — 3 options), then you choose wheels, then you choose either a carrycot (bassinet), carseat, or regular stroller seat (faces forward or back), and then the color — and there are many to choose from, like peridot green and burnt sienna. And then you can get an accent cushion to match. My mouth is just watering at the options.
Accessories include a mosquito net, footmuff, liners, other warm stuff, and more. But of note: The Parent Handmuff. This wraps around the handlebar (which by the way is extremely extendable, from very short to very tall) and then has too fuzzy, cozy openings for mom’s or dad’s hands. So smart!
It’s not cheap. Like $600-$700.
(a few minutes later…)
I’ve just given this a bit more thought, and it seems like there’s really nothing that sets these apart from say a Quinny Buzz, Bumbleride Flyer, or a Bugaboo Frog (other expensive and heavy options). I mean, after all, for those you get to choose your color too. So if you like the chassis of the Quinny, Bumbleride, or the Bugaboo, then customizing doesn’t seem like such a big deal.
Frogs don’t have adjustable handles, you would need a Cameleon (closer to $1000) to do that. I’m not overly impressed with the Quinny Buzz. It’s very heavy, very wide wheels (not good for shopping) but also not great at all terrain, so the only reason it’s popular is for it’s funky looks. Bumbleride I don’t know, but I’m interested, a stroller I know nothing about! (off to google…)
huh. i just assumed that by the look and the price of the frog that it would have extending handlebars. what a rip off. And yes, quinny is just so heavy, which is why we didn’t get it. oh, and the price. Check out the bumbleride line; you’ll like them.
Well as a mother of two little ones in SanFransisco I feel so simple things seem cool but just a new way for you to spend money on something you don't need, because it has been out for years!! Hand muff warmers……um ok I'm pretty sure there is this new crazy thing called gloves. You put your hands in them and they keep you warm no matter what your doing with your child on the go.
I work for ebabyplace and these strollers sell like crazy. They are great for moms on the go! 🙂
We have one of these and love it. Most our family think we are crazy for spending so much on it, but I wouldn't trade it for anything. We got the T-300 series with the metro wheels. We also got the carrycot, stroller seat and carseat. Our daughter loves the carrycot when we take her out. As for the car seat, we get comments all the time how nice it looks and again our daughter actually likes it. I will say it is a bit on the heavy side, but I think some of that comes with comfort and durability.
Jsst wanted to share my two cents since there don't seem to be a lot of reviews out there.
