Heigh Ho! Mozart: The Real Deal
In an effort to get me to like and listen to classical music, my parents bought me the cd Heigh Ho! Mozart when I was a kid. I guess it sort of worked. I mean, I listen to classical music sometimes while I’m working and while I wouldn’t say it’s my favorite genre of music, I must like it enough that I now want my daughter to listen and like classical music too.
Fortunately, I still have Heigh Ho! Mozart in my old cd collection and since Menachem just won a Sony CD player at work, we now have Hila’s room equipped with a sound system and cds — how 1990’s are we?
It’s a great collection of Disney songs that are each performed in the style of a famous composer. For example, “Heigh Ho!” from Snow White is in the style of (you’ll never guess…) Mozart. “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” from The Lion King is in the style of Tchaikovsky. “Prince Ali” from Aladdin is in the style of Bela Bartok. You get the point. It’s a sweet collection and it’s fun to hear those tunes again.
Hila listens to it almost every night when she falls asleep. Seems to do the trick just right!
You listened to CDs when you were a kid? How young are you? I listened mostly to tapes, but I remember a Sesame Street record (which I now have on CD for my kids. Hmm, I think I'll post about it).
That's a good point about cds. I also grew up with tapes (I think I'm a few years younger than you), yet this cd is from my childhood. I think it was actually a late attempt on my parents part to get me to listen classical music. maybe they got it for me when i was in high school? is that lame?
