Baby Things I Love…Round Two

It was so much fun taking out all my baby stuff and introducing them to our new baby. Here are a few essential baby things that deserve a second shout out: 1. Fisher Price Open Top Take-Along Rainforest Swing — This is really a great product. It’s compact so doesn’t take up loads of space, and plays really pleasant music (and I would know — every time my 2-year-old passes it she turns it on).2. Munchkin Diaper Change Organizer — This we’ve used every day since Hila was born. For a disorganized, messy person, this diaper organizer really helps keep things neat and orderly. 3. Soothie Pacifiers — Once again I have a child who rejects all pacifiers. Fortunately, this time we didn’t have to wait until month 3 to discover the soothing effects of the Soothie pacifiers. She still needs some practice, but the Soothie is definitely her favorite non-boob pacifier. 4. Baby Wearable Blankets — We don’t have the Grobag in particular, but have a few others that keep baby cozy at night without the risk of loose blankets floating around the crib. 5. Kiddopotamus Snuzzler — We use this for added support and comfort in our Rainforest

Aquaphor is Aquamore!

It seems silly to be writing an entire review of Aquaphor, and yet here I am, about to sing its many praises. As mentioned in a previous post, Aquaphor can be used to treat and prevent diaper rash. But its uses don’t end there! When my daughters were infants they both developed eczema. I tried all of the latest and greatest products recommended by friends and persuasive advertising campaigns, but nothing was quite doing the trick. Our pediatrician suggested we slather our itchy, dry-skinned babies with Aquaphor after every bath. Lo and behold, our little reptiles were transformed into supple, soft-skinned babies! Ever since, I have used Aquaphor not only to moisturize, but also to heal small scratches, and as a barrier between things that might cause friction/irritation to the skin. During the driest months of winter, I have even used it on myself. So the next time you consider the crème du jour, instead pick up a jar of Aquaphor.  Batsheva is a mom to two daughters ages four and almost two. In addition to reading her reviews on Baby Things, you can read about her mommy adventures at Late Night Feedings.

Longer Lasting Diaper Rash Cream

Aquaphor Baby Healing Ointment By “longer lasting” I don’t mean the length of time that the cream stays on your baby’s tush; rather, I mean the length of time that you can use one tube or jar before having to go out and buy more. We rarely use diaper cream these days, but when Hila was a baby we used it all the time. We went through it pretty quickly and I always thought, “Hey, they should create larger containers of this stuff.” Of course, I never bothered to check online to see if they existed. Today I’m glad to tell you that, two years later, I’ve done my research, and you can, indeed, buy larger containers of diaper cream! (Note: Your average tube of diaper cream is about 4 oz.) Desitin Original Paste, 16 oz. Here are a few of the top sellers: Aquaphor Baby Healing Ointment — 14 oz. Boudreoux’s Butt Paste — 16 oz. Desitin Original Paste — 16 oz. Boudreaux’s Rash Protector Spray And here is another great idea — spray on diaper cream. This would come in handy now because when we do use diaper cream for Hila, she’s not thrilled about it, and I

Munchkin Arm & Hammer Nursery Fresheners

Right now I have a way-too-fragrant-to-use bar of soap in the bottom of Hila’s diaper pail. It does the job pretty well, but not well enough. I came across these Munchkin Arm & Hammer Nursery Fresheners in a Parents magazine and then on Amazon and think I may give them a whirl. Next house I live in, my babies will have their own bathrooms attached to their bedrooms, complete with changing table and diaper pail–no more changing stinky diapers where babies play and sleep!
