Bumkins Bibs

After three kids and countless messy meals I have come to the conclusion time and time again that the absolute best bib in the world is that made by bumkins.  I have received many other bibs as gifts, and cute as they were, they could not stand up to the bumkins bibs.  These bibs fasten with velcro, so you’ll never accidentally snap your baby’s hair or neck fold.  What- you’ve never done that?  Yea, me neither…  They come in a variety of sizes, so your baby/child’s front is always covered.  I have found that the super bibs do a great job of covering my kids from six months on.  They have a pocket that catches virtually all spilled and dropped food.  I like to empty the pocket back onto the high chair tray when my baby is finished eating.  We call this “seconds!”  The material is waterproof, so the bibs can be washed in the sink and rung out to dry, or put straight into the washing machine.  The material is BPA, PVC, phthalates, and lead free.  What makes these bibs superb to other pocket bibs, is how soft and flexible they are.  They lay across the baby’s front and

Cheap Pregnancy and Ovulation Tests Available in Israel — FREE SHIPPING!

By: Anonymous Guest Does anyone remember what everyone was saying during the 90’s dot com boom? They predicted that in a few years, we’ll all be buying everything online and that brick-and-mortar stores will all go out of business. Did that actually happen? Yeah… no. I am always on the lookout for online deals… to save time, to save money… but mostly to save on the aggravation of pushing a stroller through a crowded store with kvetchy little children in tow. My kids are actually great and they know how to behave in a mall, but if I can do my shopping in pajamas after my kids are in bed, all the better. When I find new online deals, I’m excited… it’s even more exciting when it’s something I actually use. What’s my new favorite site? www.pregnancytestsisrael.com. I have to admit that I am a pregnancy test addict. I love peeing on those little sticks and waiting for those lines to appear. It’s fun. So yes, when I crave Ben&Jerry’s or feel a little queasy or cry at a silly tv commercial, my first thought is ‘Oh gosh… maybe I’m pregnant!’. You can imagine how happy I was to find an

7 Must-Haves for First Babies

A first time mama-to-be recently asked me for a list of must-haves. Here’s what I’ve come up with. 1. Stroller — I’ve been so many years out of the loop now, that I have no idea what’s out there. For starting out, especially if you don’t have a car and plan on taking cabs, I highly recommend getting a Snap ‘N Go (see here for a comparison of different carseat carrier models). That option will last you about a year. If you want to have a non-carseat options, then you sorta can’t go wrong, though, with a Baby Jogger City Mini. If you plan on having another kid in the next two years, then I highly recommend getting one of the Phil & Ted strollers — then, when #2 comes along, you can just buy the P&T doubles add-on kit (not that we’ve already pushing for #2 or anything…). 2. Swaddles — I recommend getting at least two of these. I prefer the Kiddopotamus Swaddle over the Summer Infant one. Ergo Carrier Beco Butterfly II Carrier 3. Baby carrier(s) — I recommend getting one cozy, stretchy wrap (like this one) and one soft structured one. I’m really happy with the Beco Butterfly, but I think I’d

Baby Brezza One Step Baby Food Maker Review

Baby Brezza One Step Baby Food Maker Review By Avital Greenbaum Once your baby is old enough to eat (and enjoy!) baby food, the fun really begins. As a Registered Dietitian, I have a special place in my heart for providing nutrition for my baby (or really any baby). I’ve seen a lot of sick babies who have to be fed from a tube for a long time and who can never appreciate taste. It’s incredible tragic. I’m so thankful that my baby is healthy and enjoys some of life’s finer things like food. My daughter Lyla started on solids around 5 months and it was very exciting. We went through all the cereals first and than the step 1 baby purees like banana and apple. The real fun began when she was able to eat stage 2 foods. Stage 2 is still a smooth puree but has a bit more texture. Out of all the jarred foods on the market, my favorite was Earth’s Best. They hare organic and have very creative blends like broccoli zucchini, apple sweet potato, and carrot tomato. I dabbled with homemade blends too. I would steam veggies in the microwave and then blend them with my blender.

Medela 100% Cotton Washable Nursing Pads: Good for You, Good for the Environment

Whether you plan on breastfeeding for one month or one year, I recommend that you get yourself some Medela 100% Cotton Washable Nursing Pads. Not only will they save you money, but you’ll get to feel good that you’re doing your part to reduce, reuse, and recycle. Plus, they’re comfortable. There are other brands of reusable nursing pads, and I’m sure they’re all perfectly fine, but these are the ones I use and these are the ones I like. I recommend getting 4-5 pairs — what, you think with a new baby you can get away with doing laundry only once a week? Believe me, you’ll be doing lots of laundry, so 8-10 nursing pads should be plenty. Now, sorting through that huge pile of clean laundry is another story. So I recommend that you get one box of disposable nursing pads as backup. For these, I highly recommend the Lansinoh Disposable Nursing Pads. These are the thinnest yet most absorbent nursing pads I’ve come across. They won’t bulk up under your clothes and won’t end up dripping with excess milk. They’re excellent backup nursing pads. Happy breastfeeding!

Long Sleeve Sleep Sacks

Babies are not supposed to sleep with blankets or toys in their cribs. For young babies, these objects can pose a suffocation threat (poo poo poo), and for older babies, they can give the baby a leg-up to help him/her climb out of the crib. Therefore, what do you do with baby on a cold winter’s night, or even in the summer, when a pair of regular pajamas isn’t enough to keep baby warm? We’ve mentioned the Grobag Baby Sleeping Bags here on this site, and that’s a great option if it’s really warm in the nursery or if your baby is wearing really warm pajamas underneath, among other layers. But it’s not really a replacement for a warm blanket. The following sleep sacks, or “wearable blankets,” are cozy, long-sleeved baby sleeping bags that, with a pair of pajamas underneath, will keep your baby warm (and sleeping better) without using a blanket. The sleeveless ones really just don’t make so much sense to me. 1. Just One Year (Joy) SleepBags – Midweight fabric. 2. Summer Infant Slumbersack – Lightweight microfleece. 3. Safe Dreams Wearable Blanket, by HALO – Fleece. (This one comes in an X-Large size (18-24 months), which is

5 Great Gifts for Your 3-Year-Old

Here are our top picks — 1. Fisher-Price Classic Doodler (Magna Doodle) – Here’s a toy that will satisfy your child’s creative side, as well as keep you (the parent) happy due to its portability and the fact that it’s noise-free. 2. Mega Bloks 200-Piece Duffle Bag – While some 3-year-olds are ready for the smaller sized Legos, many younger 3’s will have an easier time building with the larger Mega Blocks. They’re similar to Lego’s Duplos, but cheaper! 3. Pretend Food – There are dozens of companies that offer make-believe food of varying quality, but you really can’t go wrong with any of the Melissa & Doug products. There are wooden fruit cutting sets, pizza sets, an ice cream parlor, and more. Some are wooden, some are plastic, all are high quality and loads of fun for the 3-year-old who loves to play in the kitchen. 4. A Tricycle – Most 3-year-olds aren’t quite ready for a bike, but have long lost interest in the ride-on toys of their youth. A tricycle is an excellent transitional bike and come in various sizes. We like the Radio Flyer Classic Red Trike. 5. Classic Board Games – Congratulations! Your child is finally
