Baby Things I Love…Round Two

It was so much fun taking out all my baby stuff and introducing them to our new baby. Here are a few essential baby things that deserve a second shout out: 1. Fisher Price Open Top Take-Along Rainforest Swing — This is really a great product. It’s compact so doesn’t take up loads of space, and plays really pleasant music (and I would know — every time my 2-year-old passes it she turns it on).2. Munchkin Diaper Change Organizer — This we’ve used every day since Hila was born. For a disorganized, messy person, this diaper organizer really helps keep things neat and orderly. 3. Soothie Pacifiers — Once again I have a child who rejects all pacifiers. Fortunately, this time we didn’t have to wait until month 3 to discover the soothing effects of the Soothie pacifiers. She still needs some practice, but the Soothie is definitely her favorite non-boob pacifier. 4. Baby Wearable Blankets — We don’t have the Grobag in particular, but have a few others that keep baby cozy at night without the risk of loose blankets floating around the crib. 5. Kiddopotamus Snuzzler — We use this for added support and comfort in our Rainforest

The First Years Soothie Bottles

We just got The First Years Soothie Bottles which was exciting because Hila absolutely loves the Soothie Pacifiers and we thought it would heighten her bottle-feeding experience. They’re good bottles…I don’t really such a difference from the Avent bottles that Hila normally uses, except for one brilliant innovation: The cap of the bottle snaps onto the bottom of the bottle so when you’re feeding you don’t need to worry about misplacing the cap. Very smart. The bad part — the cap doesn’t fit on the TOP of the bottle! The caps are so loose that I needed to tape it shut so it wouldn’t open in the diaper bag! I think maybe we just got a dud of a set. There’s no way that they would not know about this problem and have fixed it right away. So should you buy these? Just check to see if the cap fits snugly. If it does, then you definitely should. All bottles should have the caps attach to the bottom. What a great idea! Wish I would’ve thought of it!

Super Soothies

Shhhh…be very quiet…Hila is sucking a pacifier and one loud noise or wrong move could disturb this exciting new experience… We’ve bought all pacifier options available in Israel and nothing has worked. And then, a conversation with Tiffany:Tiff: Why don’t you get those pacifiers that they give newborns in the hospital?Sar: You mean the bottle nipples stuffed with cotton? No, with the bottle rims they’re too heavy and fall out of her mouth.Tiff: Ummm…do you live in a third world country? I’ll look into it and send you some that will work for Hila. And she did! A package arrived filled with goodies from Tiff and Penina and at the very bottom was the Soothie Infant Pacifier that has already changed our lives! This pacifier is made of latex free silicone and is used in over 2000 hospitals (in America that is, not Israel). Some people think it’s ugly, but I happen to think they are much cuter than those big plastic ones that cover a baby’s whole face. I think she looks like a Cabbage Patch Kid. And look at this Soothie Pacifer Attacher you can get to go with it! Right now she’s content in her swing sucking
